TIPS FOR FOX4 SCENARIO GAMES

Scenario games are different from rec-ball. The focus is on an historical event or story.  The objective is to accomplish missions that have been assigned by your General.  Completed missions scores points for your team, preventing the other side from completing missions helps your side.  While trying to shoot out your oppenents is important, it is not the main area of focus.  Here are some ideas on how to make your first scenario event enjoyable.

1.  Do some homework.  What's the title of the event?  Are there uniforms or costumes you can wear to make the game fun?

2. Use your imagination.  If the scenario calls for a sci-fi theme, dress the part.  You'd be surprised little things added to your outfit can make you stand out.

3. Get involved in the game. As we said, if points are awarded for complete missions, then volunteer for as many missions as possible.  Make youself available to your commander. You might be chosen as the MVP! Does your commander need a bodyguard?

4. Learn the rules!  Many games have extensive rules governing scenario game play.  By knowing the rules, you can help your team keep it's points, if a ruling should go against you. Rules are usually available as a handout on the day of the game, or available on-line.

5. Radio communication can make or break a game. It's so much easier to call your team mates, than to run back and ask for orders. Got batteries?  How about a headset?  Is your radio stuffed in your pocket, or secured to you harness?

6. Wear a harness. A harness is a comfortable way to carry large loads with you.  You might not leave the field for quite a while. Paintballs, a squeegee, perhaps a spare tank, side arms, radio, etc. etc.

7. FOOD!  Are you planning to buy at the event, or pack a cooler?  Water is a must!  Energy bars or simple snacks can hold you over until you get some food in the staging area.  Many players use hydration systems that they wear on their backs.  These can be found at most sporting goods stores.

8. Get your picture taken!  You might end up in an article in Paintball News, or at least on our website.

9. Scenario games require that "Tournament attitudes" are left at home.  Play fair, play for fun, scenario games are usually attended by honest upstanding players.

10. Bring someone with you!  Two heads are better than one. If you have a group, even better! Stick together, work together, get the job done. Do you know someone who's never played paintball?  Get them to play with your group, they'll be hooked for life!

11. Be prepared technically!  Don't show up with a broken piece of equipment!  When they start NASCAR events or the Indy 500, everyones ready to go, not waiting for the tech to look at their equipment! Get it looked at now, months or weeks before the event. Do you have a parts kit? Do you know how to use it? "O" rings and oil, Allen wrenches, rags, these are all found in even the simplest kits.

PLAY HARD, PLAY FAIR, HAVE FUN!
